Liver → Albumin & Clotting Factors → Fluid Balance & Bleeding

The biology

The liver is the body's protein factory. It makes albumin (keeps fluid in vessels) and most clotting factors. When the liver is damaged, both fall — fluid leaks into tissues and clotting slows.

What this means

A low albumin with a prolonged PT in someone with raised ALT is a warning sign of advancing liver disease.

Advice

Stop alcohol completely. Eat enough protein. Avoid unnecessary paracetamol and herbal supplements. See your GP for hepatitis screening and ultrasound.
