1. Source selection
Content is reviewed against recognised healthcare and laboratory guidance, including:
- CDC — Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
- American Heart Association.
- USPSTF — US Preventive Services Task Force.
- NHS.
- NICE.
- Peer-reviewed laboratory medicine literature and professional guidelines.
2. Drafting
A draft page is prepared using the standard marker template — biology explanation, reference ranges, why doctors order the test, factors that may affect results, high and low result explanations, related tests, FAQs and an educational disclaimer.
3. Specialist review
Drafts are reviewed under the leadership of Steve Diongo, Founder and Scientific Lead, together with the Detectives Health Team, for clinical accuracy, balance and non-diagnostic safety language.
4. Reference range validation
Reference ranges are validated per region (United States, United Kingdom, France, International) against the sources listed in our reference range methodology.
5. Editorial & safety sweep
Pages are checked against the editorial policy and scientific & educational content policy before publication.
6. Publication and audit
Each published page records the reviewer and last-review date and is reviewed at least annually.
