Our Scientific Principles
Our educational content is guided by the following principles:
- Scientific accuracy
- Educational clarity
- Patient safety
- Transparency
- Evidence-based information
- Professional responsibility
- Continuous review and improvement
- Respect for recognised clinical guidance
What Detectives Health Provides
What Detectives Health Does Not Provide
Detectives Health does not provide:
Safety Language
Detectives Health intentionally uses educational language. This ensures that users receive clear, understandable information while avoiding any suggestion of a diagnostic conclusion.
Language we avoid
We avoid wording that could appear diagnostic. We do not write phrases such as:
- “You have…”
- “This means you have…”
- “This confirms…”
Language we use
Instead, we use wording such as:
- “May be associated with…”
- “Can sometimes be seen in…”
- “May warrant discussion with your healthcare professional…”
This approach helps users understand laboratory information while avoiding diagnostic conclusions.
Rather than “Next Steps”, marker pages provide Questions You May Wish To Discuss With Your Healthcare Professional.
Red-flag and urgent symptoms
Where a laboratory finding or symptom may be time-critical, Detectives Health surfaces safety guidance and directs the reader to seek urgent medical care rather than providing self-management advice.
How We Maintain Quality
Educational content is:
- Written using recognised biomedical science knowledge.
- Reviewed against established healthcare guidance.
- Updated when significant scientific or professional guidance changes.
- Periodically reviewed by the Detectives Health Professional Team.
- Subject to continuous quality improvement.

Laboratory reference ranges and interpretation for these groups require professional clinical assessment. Always consult your GP, physician or other appropriately qualified healthcare professional regarding individual circumstances.
